Ray Kennamer started working with his father, the late Shorty Kennamer, at the age of 13 during holidays and weekends in 1973 . His job was to clean up the construction sites. By the age of 16 he had moved up to general laborer which encompassed everything from clean up job sites, digging footings to driving nails. Upon graduating from high school, Ray had become a carpenter working on a regular bases. At the age of 20, Ray was running a crew that was renovating storm & fire damaged homes, additions and remodels as well as new construction.
In 1994, after the passing of his parents, Ray started Ray Kennamer Construction Inc.. He began with one other carpenter and has now grown to 7 full time employees and 2 part time employees.
In 1994, we also received our general contractor license so that we could expand into the commercial market. September of 2000 we received our certification from the National Association of Home Builders to be one of the few "Certified Graduated Remodelors" in north Alabama. And in 2005 we received our "Graduate Master Builder" certification.
Over the past twelve years we have completed approximately 720 projects. Renovations ranging from $1,000.00 to $275,000.00 along with numerous addition.
In 1996 we purchased our first building to use as our base of operation. In 2001 we purchased our second building and begin cabinet work. In 2005 we renovated & relocated our office to the building that we use to build cabinets.
